CHILDREN

Swanage Blues Festival started off as a ‘grown-up birthday party’ and is essentially a Pub Trail, rather crowded, noisy and whether it’s suitable for young children or not will have to be your decision in conjunction with the venues. Each venue is an individually run bar, club or restaurant, each with its own code of practice. The list of venues with some contact details can be seen at http://www.swanage-blues.org/venues.aspx

You are welcome to contact the venues and the Tourist Information Centre on 01929 766018 for further information.

DOGS

Swanage Blues Festival started off as a ‘grown-up birthday party’ and is essentially a Pub Trail, rather crowded, noisy and whether it’s suitable for dogs or not will have to be your decision in conjunction with the venues. Each venue is an individually run bar, club or restaurant, each with its own code of practice. The list of venues with some contact details can be seen at http://www.swanage-blues.org/venues.aspx Personally I would not subject my dog to the loud noises and bustle of a packed pub with a band playing.

DIRECTIONS TO VENUES

For town centre map see centre pages of Festival Programme.

Taxi fares in Swanage are very reasonable, so don’t be put off by distances if you’re on foot.

Starting from the pier, the first venue is the East Bar (1 High St), then the White Horse (11), Ship Inn (23a), White Swan (31), Anchor Inn (30), *Tawny’s (52) and Red Lion (63). The Black Swan (159) is about 300 yards further with The Legion (150) another 200 yards on from that.

Opposite The Legion is Priests Way, which leads to Panorama Rd and Swanage Bay View Holiday Park (about 400 yards from The Legion).

From the Mowlem Theatre (not a venue), go along Shore Road with the bay on your right to *Sea Breeze Restaurant (7 Shore Rd); keep on along the bay and at the Bull & Boat (not a venue) bear left up the hill to the Crow’s Nest (not a venue). From the Crow’s Nest, cross over into Burlington Rd for the Grand Hotel.

Herston Caravan & Camp Site is in Washpond Lane and best accessible via the High Street over the road from the Royal Oak (not a venue) at 417 High St.

The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club is 3 miles from Swanage, on the road between Studland and Corfe Castle.

ACCESS - If you have any mobility or other problems or requirements, please check with the venues in advance.

MEMBERS - Non-members are welcome at Swanage Royal British Legion Club and the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club.

* IMPORTANT - Sea Breeze and Tawny’s are restaurants, so please book in advance. The restaurants are primarily for people who have booked and are dining. Please respect their space. Swanage Bay View has a restaurant and bookings can be made, but it also has standing and lounge areas too.
